Support programmes and services for older people provided through DAS Târgu Mureș

The Social Assistance Department (DAS) in Târgu Mureș is informing residents about the support services and programmes available to older people in the municipality, with the primary aim of maintaining their independence, improving their quality of life and preventing social exclusion.

Home care services

Older people who face difficulties in carrying out daily activities can benefit from home care services, which include:

· Assistance with personal hygiene and light housework

· Support with meal preparation and feeding

· Monitoring of health and liaison with medical services

The Care Home for the Elderly

To ensure continuous social and medical care that cannot be provided at home, the Department provides the Târgu Mureș Care Home for the Elderly, where residents are provided with:

· Accommodation, meals and rehabilitation

· Medical care

· Occupational therapy and leisure activities

· Social and psychological support

· Activities designed to encourage an active lifestyle

It is also possible for elderly people to be admitted to a care and support centre, depending on the needs identified through the initial assessment, followed by a social survey carried out by staff from the Târgu Mureș Social Assistance Department (DAS). At the same time, the beneficiary is provided with a list of care and support centres in Mureș County, from which they can choose their preferred social services provider.

Community programmes

The Directorate runs programmes dedicated to the integration and active participation of older people in community life, encouraging solidarity between generations.
