The new thresholds for the minimum inclusion income, increased in accordance with current legislation
The minimum inclusion income for families with children has been increased for the second time since the start of the year, through an Emergency Ordinance (EO No. 23/2026) which includes support measures for several categories of vulnerable people.
At the same time, according to the law, the minimum inclusion income level is increased annually, starting in March, by the average inflation rate from the previous year, as reported by the National Institute of Statistics.
The new adjusted net income thresholds for the VMI:
· 998 lei per family member, for applicants for inclusion support and support for families with children;
· 393 lei per family member, for applicants for inclusion support only, with the exception of persons over 65 years of age, for whom the maximum income level is 572 lei;
· 998 lei per family member, for applicants for family support for families with children, exclusively.
New VMI amounts – Family with Children Benefit component:
For families receiving inclusion support, as well as those with adjusted net monthly incomes of up to 366 lei/month:
· 186 lei – for families with 1 child
· 372 lei – families with 2 children
· 566 lei – families with 3 children
· 741 lei – families with 4 or more children
For families with an adjusted monthly net income of between 367 lei/month and 930 lei/month inclusive:
· 145 lei – for families with 1 child
· 288 lei – family with 2 children
· 431 lei – family with 3 children
· 571 lei – families with 4 or more children
For single-parent families receiving inclusion support, as well as those with adjusted monthly net incomes of up to 366 lei/month:
· 227 lei – for families with 1 child
· 451 lei – family with 2 children
· 675 lei – families with 3 children
· 900 lei – families with 4 or more children
For single-parent families with an adjusted monthly net income of between 367 lei/month and 930 lei/month inclusive:
· 202 lei – for families with 1 child
· 394 lei – family with 2 children
· 593 lei – family with 3 children
· 786 lei – families with 4 or more children
The increases will apply from the income for April 2026.
Important obligations! People of working age who receive inclusion support must:
· carry out work of local interest
· seek employment through employment agencies
In 2025, the minimum inclusion income was granted to an average of 360 families per month, totalling approximately 1,260 beneficiaries, of whom over 700 were minors. At the same time, beneficiaries of the minimum income carried out 24,504 hours of community service, contributing to activities of local interest.
The minimum inclusion income is intended for single people and families in difficult circumstances and has two components: the inclusion allowance and the allowance for families with children. Financial support is granted upon application, which must be accompanied by supporting documents regarding income, family composition, assets owned, etc.
